Checking Out of the Residence Halls

ROOM CHECK - OUT PROCEDURES

THE FOLLOWING STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO LEAVING FOR THE SUMMER
  • Students are expected to move out 48 hours after their last final/official branch campus duty or by 12 May 2011, whichever comes first.
  • If they are staying for the summer, students must submit an online completed Summer Break Housing Form by 15 April 2011 along with summer housing payment receipt.
  • The Online Summer Break Housing Form will not be accepted without uploaded payment receipt in addition to a hard copy of the Summer Break Housing Form, available at FB3 Reception Desk.
1) Sign up for a Check-out Appointment at FB3 Front Desk between (7:00 am-7:00 pm) from Sunday to Thursday.

  • This will inform hall staff of when you will officially be leaving the residence halls. If you are staying for summer, just inform FB3 Desk Clerks and your RHD (and complete your Summer Break Housing application!).
2) CLEANING YOUR APARTMENT
  • Vacuum and sweep all areas of your apartment (room and common spaces);
  • Take out the trash;
  • Make sure all perishable and partially used food is thrown out;
  • Clean and put away the dishes;
  • Organize the living area after it has been cleaned;
  • Close and lock all doors and windows;
  • Clear and clean your fridge;
  • Make sure all faucets are turned off and that the water heater is turned off;
  • Remove all personal decorations hanging on the wall (students will be charged for any holes or other damage in order to have them professionally repaired and brought to its original condition).
  • Please talk with your roommates about how the room should be left and do your best to have it clean in an acceptable manner when you leave so that we can be sure which roommate(s) should be billed for any damage or excessive cleaning.
3) ROOM CHECK-OUT INSPECTION
  • On the day and time you have set up to be checked out, you need to go to FB3 Front Desk to let them know all of your items are out of the room. Bring any boxes for summer storage with you at that time.
  • Hall Staff will come to your room and take about 10-15 minutes to inspect your room with you. At the end of the check-out they will let you know if they have assessed damage and you will need to sign the sheet and return your key and PED in order to complete the checkout.
  • If your roommate(s) is/are still residing in the apartment and there is damage assessed upon their checkout if the steps in #1 were not followed when you checked-out, you may find yourself billed for damage or excessive cleaning after you have left the room.
  • Improper check out might cause you lose your damage deposit.
4) STORING BOXES
  •  If you are storing items for the summer, please be sure that your two (2) boxes are packed to minimize any damage to your personal belongings. Please tape the boxes closed on both ends and be sure to use the label provided from FB3 and write clearly. Please complete any labels that are attached to the box so that we may best track your box and items. You will coordinate your need for storage with FB3 Front Desk and will be responsible to move your boxes to the appropriate storage area designated by FB3 staff. If you didn’t move your boxes into storage area prior your check out your boxes will be disposed.
